Substance Use, Mental Disorders and the Justice System: Improving Resource Efficiency and Outcomes
|
People with mental disorders and substance use disorders are significantly over-represented in the justice system. Moreover, a number of individuals access services spanning a variety of Ministries, as well as services and resources provided through provincial Health Authorities. Little evidence exists to support the optimal integration and monitoring of diverse services such as mental health and addictions treatment, housing and shelter utilization, other health services, court services, and income assistance for this population. This project is designed to support improvements to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of services for persons with mental health and addictions problems and who are involved with, or at risk of becoming involved with, the criminal justice system. |
