Our mandate is to conduct research that can be applied to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of mental health and addiction services in British Columbia and beyond. Our research activities often address innovative approaches to the development, implementation and dissemination and evaluation of health promotion activities, preventive strategies and treatment services, particularly those that can be applied at a system-wide, population level.
conduct population-based health services research relevant to policy-makers and health service providers;
examine province-wide patterns and trends in mental health and addiction service delivery and uptake;
create knowledge and evidence-based recommendations that inform decision-making at all levels of service delivery;
support empirical inquiry and build partnerships among academics, government, healthcare providers, community agencies, consumers, and family members
train researchers and promote a broader understanding of population health and research in the areas of mental health and addiction.
